FINALLY!!!!

My honey FINALLY got his job!! I am so sick with pride-it's not even funny! So proud of my Deputy!! :):) WE have been struggling with the job market and have been put through alot of pain and heartache during this whole process. It was SOOOO frustrating! All the ones we felt SO good about just kept falling through for no explainable reason and we just couldn't figure out what we were doing wrong. But finally.. and not a moment too soon.. we got the offer we wanted the MOST! It's such a great feeling!!

Our lives have gone from zero to sixty pretty much overnight because of it too. SO much to get figured out and so many things to consider. He starts his new job in a week. He gets fitted for his uniform in a couple of days too. We are planning on moving for sure. The drive to summit county is just too long from where we live now. So we are officially in the market for a house too! yay!! I'm so excited about that part. We are looking in Heber and in a few Salt Lake areas like Holladay and Sugarhouse. But we will see. My brother is going to be our realtor too which is SO nice! He is giving us an amazing deal! Now the challenge is going to be finding the place, closing on it, and then moving. Plus, depending on where we choose to live will determine where I will work as well. There are lots of M.E. clinics around those areas so I should be able to do a transfer... hopefully! I'm sad to be leaving the clinic I am at now. I LOVE it there. So I guess I will just have to visit often :).

McCall had accepted a position at the State Prison in draper and was supposed to start last wednesday. He was not excited about it AT ALL! The only reason he accepted the position was because he was running out of time. The retirement system is set to change on July 1st and if you don't get hired by then, you have to go on the new one. Which is NOT a good thing. So he took the prison job to ensure his retirement. Luckily, Summit county called him with an offer not even 2 days before he was supposed to start. The reason this is so amazing is because if he had started his job on that wednesday, he would have signed a contract, and that contract would say that if he was to quit within a certain time period, he would have to pay them lots of money. We were planning on just buying him out of the contract if he got the right offer later, but it was so nice that we didn't have to lose that money and worry about all of that. He really wouldn't have been able to start that wednesday anyway... We have had the craziest couple of weeks between family stuff going on and work, school, job issues as usual. He just didn't really know how it was going to work for him to start at the prison that day.. now we know why it all happened the way that it did. He was never going to start there anyway.

It is so nice to be able to see the grand scheme of things. And to be able to see the Lord's guiding hand in our lives. We always knew that the reason none of them had worked out til now was because those places were not where we were supposed to end up. It didn't make it any less frustrating to know that, but at least it offered a little bit of comfort, knowing that it would all work out somehow in the end. Not once did McCall doubt that fact. He got discouraged, but every time another one fell through, he would just say that it wasn't meant to be and that isn't where he is supposed to go. We don't know what awaits him with Summit County or what he is so destined to do there, but we KNOW that is where he is supposed to be. I wish I could say I was as strong as he was. But I wasn't. I know now that I need to be more patient and have a little more faith in the plan that the lord has for us. He works on His time, not ours. I am just grateful that someone else FINALLY saw what I see in him everyday. The Sheriff for Summit County had nothing but amazing things to say about McCall, and congratulated him countless times on his hard work getting his degree. It was so refreshing to have someone finally recognize that. I am so glad that McCall will be working with an agency that appreciates him and recognizes what an amazing individual he is. SO proud of him right now.
Much more info to come... lots of changes for us this year.
and I guess I take it back.... I don't totally HATE 2011 after all :) it's turning out to be pretty amazing. Better late than never I suppose.

McCall, this is Ben. Hey man, I am very happy for you guys. I'm glad things have worked out for you. An officer from North Ogden called me a while ago asking me about you. I told him that you would be nothing but an asset to the department. Sounds like that didn't work out, but you got the job you wanted instead. All I can say is North Ogden missed out and Summit County is lucky to have you. By the way, I want to go on a ride-along with you some time.
